Our academic advisor

Hello and Welcome! My name is Natalie McClain, and I am excited to be a member of the FTB family as your Academic Advisor, and I look forward to working with all of you.

A little bit about myself and background, I am an award-winning educator who has been a public-school educator for 12 years in Tampa, Florida. I served as a teacher, mentor, and assistant principal in Hillsborough County Public Schools, the nation’s seventh largest public-school district. I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Phoenix and a Graduate Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Tampa.

I began my career as a social studies teacher and administrative resource teacher at Sligh Middle Magnet School and helped the school receive their first “C” school grade in history. In 2021, I was promoted to Assistant Principal at Sumner High School. While serving the Sumner Community I am rated as a highly effective assistant principal, with plans on becoming a principal in the near future.

During my career as an educator and leader, I have worked tirelessly to advocate for all students. As I continue my work as an educational leader and academic advisor. I want to positively impact as many children’s lives as possible by empowering them with the knowledge, strategies, and tools to effectively lead them to their own path of success.

I have been married for 17 years and have 3 amazing children. In my spare time, I like to watch my kids play softball/baseball, read books, watch Hallmark “corny” movies, go to concerts and enjoy life.

I am looking forward to serving, learning, supporting, and growing with our FTB Family.

How will students maintain their education?

Students will have weekly touchpoints with our academic advisor, as well as meetings with the parents to ensure they are staying on pace with their studies.

Students will have the ability to learn at their own pace and Mrs. McClain will help them choose from a wider selection of courses including: Career-Specific Courses, Advanced Placement Courses, Honors Programs, College-Credit Curriculums, etc.

All programs are fully accredited and NCAA approved, and our team will constantly monitor progress and eligibility for college compliance.

There are no limitations to prospective students – if a parent has a specific online platform they are interested in, Mrs McClain will be there to assist and provide guidance along the journey.
